I haven’t had a panic attack in a couple of years so I guess this is a success right here. During my first few episodes, it was really tough. However as you go along, you get to learn how to cope with them. You will find techniques within yourself on how to calm yourself during a panic attack. It is sad that many people refuse to talk about panic attacks because it is a fairly common thing. They might feel that people will just think they are crazy or just making a scene. I suggest you go to a counselor or find a friend to talk with to help air your feelings. In my experience, exercise seems to be a big help in my recovery.

It has been nine months now and I am responding very positively to a treatment of Cymbalta 60 mg. I have not had a panic attack since I took this medication. It really worked for me.

I am writing this success story because when I was under so much depression from the worst weeks of my panic attack, it was the success stories from other people that gave me hope. I am 19 and for the past three years, I have experienced panic attacks occasionally during stressful life events. However, this took a turn for the worse when I accidentally ate too much of the pot brownies that I take for my migraine. I hallucinated and I felt so high that it triggered a panic attack. The following week I tried the pot brownies again but in very small amounts this time. However, I got another panic attack despite that.
That panic attack lasted a full 24 hours. It was really scary. I went to see a naturopathic practitioner and after a few weeks I started to feel better but not completely. I went to the doctor and he put me on an antidepressant called Citalopram. The first few weeks of taking Citalopram I had really bad side effects. I had really vivid and bad nightmares, headaches, nausea, vomiting, depersonalization and other side effects that I almost stopped taking the medication. On the third week of Citalopram I started feeling better, even the nightmares and headaches were lesser than before. I stopped vomiting and I got my appetite back. The recovery was not abrupt but I had clear developments day by day. Until one day, all the symptoms from Citalopram side effects were gone. It has now been 7 weeks on this medication and with the help of exercise and natural supplements and proper amounts of sleep, I can say that I have my life back.

I am 16 years old now and I had my very first panic attack last October. It went away on its own but then came back two months ago and it was more frequent. I missed many of my classes and I felt very nauseus. If I am at school I am always at the nurse’s office asking for breathing aids to make sure I am breathing properly. It was really very tough but I learned to realize that what we need is acceptance of anxiety and not fighting it. Ever since I took this mindset, it helped me fight off my panic attacks.
